Fornelos Design and Build

Sept 2025: We used FDB once again to upgrade our exterior and they did not disappoint. Ripped off front porch, updated and assisted with design. Honest fair trust worthy and excellent work. Highly recommend. Jun 2022: We used Fornelos Design and Build to remove our outdoor wooden deck and replace it with a screen in porch. David Fornelos and his crew did a meticulous job from obtaining permits and inspections to the installation of the materials. He was honest, fair and had many suggestions that were helpful. We would definitely recommend his company to others.

David and his team were amazing! They did a complete renovation on our very outdated finished basement and it came out fantastic. He is incredibly knowledgeable and thorough. He does not cut corners and works with your needs and wants. Highly recommend for your next job.

[Editing a previous review] Overall, we are happy with the built-ins that Fornelos installed in our home. However, a couple months after installation the cabinet doors began to warp and bow which we found odd. We made Fornelos aware and they assured us they'd fix it. With the amount of money we paid for the built-ins, we did expect it to be done right the first time but understand mistakes happen. What was disappointing was we had to follow up many times in order to get them fixed. It felt like we needed to chase them down to make it right rather than them being proactive in fixing the problem. The cabinet doors also bump each other when two are open at once, which we made them aware of but were told that was the design. Again, we would expect with the money we spent that it would be perfect and unfortunately they aren't. I still give 4 stars because we are happy with the look of the cabinets and generally interacting with Fornelos was a pleasure, but I did want to highlight the issues we had.

Dave and his crew from Fornelos Design and Build just completed a renovation of my basement. They built a new closet, bench seat, installed a new laminate floor and painted the entire level. Work was performed expertly, completed on time, on budget at an amazing price! Dave's team respected my living space the entire project and cleaned the space 100% upon completion of the job. Totally recommend this contractor for any of your upcoming projects.

WOW! We are SO HAPPY! To put this review in context, I will mention that we have been the proud owners of seven previous homes, one of which we had built. We have had a lifetime of experience working with contractors to do renovation projects and to build our home. Recently, we sought to renovate the en suite in our condo. As is my practice, I developed a Request for Proposal (RFP) containing every specification and all materials to be used for this renovation. My wife and I then reviewed the RFP with four highly recommended contractors, and awarded the contract to Fornelos Design & Build, who we had never used before. Why? David Fornelos listens. He offers constructive recommendations. Obstacles that surfaced in this project, as in all others, were never a problem for David and his team of craftsmen (and lady!). My wife is very sensitive to dust AND this 2-3 week project was “IN” our bedroom where we sleep every night. Throughout the project, a heavy plastic floor-to-ceiling wall was erected to separate the bed area from the construction area. Access to and from was via a heavy duty zipper. The combination of the plastic wall, tile & wood cutting performed outdoors, clean-up throughout the day, and at day’s end proved very effective in controlling dust from demolition to completion. The measures taken also demonstrated how caring and respectful the team was. Their quality and workmanship is excellent. Great care is taken in planning, precision cutting and mitering. They take great pride in their work; they are always courteous, and trustworthy. To say they are an absolute pleasure to work with is a gross understatement. David and his Team have our highest endorsement. Joe & Donna DeCandido Ossining, New York
