There's a good reason this company has been in business as long as it has.

I hired Harry Lichtman expecting a high-quality car stereo system for my work van. During our conversation, he spoke very quickly about the best products he had available and quoted me $1,500 for the equipment and installation. He took a $500 deposit right away. The next morning, when I picked up the van, I was surprised to find that the stereo installed was a Kenwood DMX4710S ($299.00), which is essentially an Apple CarPlay display. I was also told that new speakers had been installed, but the communication about exactly what equipment would be installed was not clear. For $1,500, I expected a more complete and higher-quality stereo system. I believe there should have been much clearer communication about the specific equipment being installed before I agreed to the price. When the van was ready, Harry immediately took the remaining payment and then brought me to the back for a one-on-one explanation of how to use the stereo. That was another disappointment. I discovered that I needed a cable to connect my iPhone. When I asked about it, Harry told me, “Sorry, we don’t sell cables. You have to go to Best Buy and get one,” and then left. Overall, I am disappointed with the experience. I paid $1,500 expecting a high-quality car stereo system, but I feel that I could have received a better system for that amount of money. The biggest issue for me was the lack of clear communication about what I was actually paying for. I would strongly recommend making sure you get the exact make, model, speakers, and other equipment in writing before paying a deposit or agreeing to the final price.

Very disappointing experience. Harry came across as arrogant and condescending, and seems to enjoy lecturing customers rather than simply addressing their concerns. As a car audio enthusiast, I’m not completely clueless about this stuff. For a relatively obvious issue, other shops were able to simply quote me the labor and do the work, while Harry wanted to charge an additional diagnostic fee. I also don’t think Harry is very honest or transparent. I was quoted $125/hour when I made the appointment, but on the day of the appointment it suddenly became $150/hour. I had sound deadening done here as well, and Harry didn’t take any photos to show me the finished work. I later went to another shop for a different project, and they documented everything with photos so I could actually see where my money went. Overall, a very poor experience and I would not recommend this shop. And Harry, if you respond to this review, please don’t twist my words. Everything I’ve written here is exactly what happened.
