Town of Carmel Highway Department

Based in Mahopac, the Town of Carmel Highway Department maintains more than 175 miles of roadway throughout the Town of Carmel. Its responsibilities include pothole repair, spring road sweeping, snow removal, and upkeep of catch basins and stormwater drains. The department also assists with tree removal following severe weather, removes dead animals from town roads, and handles right-of-way permits. These services support the ongoing maintenance and safe operation of local roads and related public infrastructure. Michael Stern serves as Superintendent of Highways.
